I was part of multiple teams and cross-team groups over the course of my career at Salesforce, with varying responsibilities:Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery team: We owned the Marketing Cloud’s source code management systems, as well as various related internal tools. With my team, I made plans for aligning those systems more closely with similar systems used by other parts of Salesforce.Asynchronous API team: We owned a SOAP API used by multiple large Marketing Cloud customers for marketing email generation and related facilities. The original form of this API had significant issues with reliability and scalability; for example, it would fail under load during the Black Friday / Cyber Monday weekend. With my team, I conceived and implemented a replacement that scaled horizontally and increased the chances that one “problem” customer couldn’t impact other customers.Salesforce underwent a Hybrid Transformation, where software engineers and quality engineers were cross-trained on both. I conducted informal tutoring sessions for quality engineers who were learning middle-tier and database engineering as part of this transformation.I was a member of Salesforce’s Security Champions program, which empowers Salesforce’s engineers to build security into their software and systems from the very start of the software lifecycle. As my team’s Security Champion, I received security training and was charged with ensuring that the team took security into account.As a member of the Script Review Team – in fact, a cross-functional group of engineers – I worked on the later stages of review for SQL Server scripts. This improved my SQL and SQL Server skills considerably.Conducted interviews of potential employees, and provided input into hire/don’t-hire decisions.
