As a peer mentor, I was responsible for mentoring a small group of first year students. I was their first point of contact throughout the year, helping them transition from school to university. I had to be available to meet with my mentees in a group or individual setting. Additionally, I encouraged my mentees to make the most of opportunities to meet one another, become involved in campus life and develop their own support networks. Being a peer mentor improved my knowledge of the university and support that is available for student. As well, it improved my time management, teamwork, and communication skills.

As an Academic Representative, I effectively voiced not only the opinions, but also the visions of my year group at a faculty level to ensure that the desired change is achieved. I committed to improving the current system and resolving any issues that were brought to light by my peers. As an Academic Representative, I worked on: - improving the lab report grading system,- raising issues lecture recording and audio issues,- raising awareness on the curriculum transformation that the department was undergoing,- helping smoothen the transition to online learning by communicating the ideas of the department to my peers,- designing a poster that illustrates how to give effective feedback to professors. Additionally, I chaired a meeting, with the help of my colleague, to discuss and write feedback on the curriculum transformation plan proposed by the department.
