I connected with AHF during a COC event for queer refugees, where they were offering rapid HIV testing. After discussing my background and previous work, I decided to join them as a volunteer. I participated in various events and festivals across the Netherlands, providing rapid HIV tests and conducting outreach. Additionally, I took regular shifts at the walk-in checkpoint in Amsterdam. I remained committed to this work, continuing as a volunteer even after receiving asylum and moving out of the AZC.

During my extended stay at AZC Weert, I proactively reached out to COA and secured a role supervising the OLC (Open Learning Center) during children's hours. This position was particularly challenging as I worked with children from around 20 different countries, each with their own languages and cultural backgrounds. The experience helped me develop strong cross-cultural communication and leadership skills.

Provided immediate emotional support and suicide prevention through the National Lifeline, offering crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, and orientation to local resources for those in emotional distress.

Conducted online outreach on MSM dating apps, providing information on STI prevention, sexual health, harm reduction, and drug use to raise awareness and promote safer practices.

Provided peer education and outreach on HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C, offering support and raising awareness within vulnerable communities through fieldwork and mobile services.
