I am a recent graduate from the University of New Haven in West Haven, CT. I completed my bachelor of science in forensic science biology with a minor in criminal justice, and am furthering my education at the University in the cellular and molecular biology masters program. During my undergraduate years, I have taken many forensic science and biology-based courses and labs.It is through these courses and labs that I have acquired many skills that are transferrable between multiple disciplines. Some of these skills include thorough documentation, problem-solving, data analysis, and wet lab techniques such as sample preparation, pipetting, and use of instrumentation.One of the most humbling experiences from my undergraduate studies was having the opportunity to do research through the Honors Program. I completed my Honor's thesis entitled: How Can Modern DNA Analysis and Databases Aid in Solving Open Sexual Assault Cases. I used this opportunity to explore research within my respective major and minor, but also to create a call to attention toward the Femicide in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.Whether it is using DNA evidence to give victims and their families answers or using genomic testing for drug therapies or disease identification, I believe that science can be used to help people, and I want to contribute to those successes.
