I am the Events and Outreach assistant on the Employer Engagement team and the communications team at the DePaul University Career Center. I also work with Juneteenth Productions; there i produce animated educational shorts. I am the President of the DePaul chapter of The National Association of Black Journalists. Within this organization, I am fortunate enough to connect with other aspiring black journalists and receive mentoring from veteran black journalists. Before I was president, I served as the Vice President and the Membership and outreach coordinator. In this new role, I am working on expanding membership, creating a strong structure for the future leaders of the association, and continuing to help member expand their skills in journalism through hands-on events. I am also an Associate Editor for DePaul's student-led magazine,14 East. The experience of being in a real newsroom with other Journalism students, pitching stories, and expanding on ways to inform our students of all that is happening at DePaul and around Chicago. I have edited and fact-checked a wide range of topics, expanded my knowledge of newsroom etiquette, and been exposed to multiple different writing styles.
