In this role, I worked on two projects: European Union and Association for Progressive Communications funded Internet Rights and UNICEF funded “Mobile For Social and Behavioral Change” initiative.For the Internet Rights project, I led country-wide research on the Freedom of Speech online and offline in India, specifically for rural India. Our team found that increased and fair access to internet and digital tools are the prerequisites for communities to be able to exercise their human rights online. I led human rights training on Freedom of Expression online and offline in four states: Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. In the process, I advocated for increased access to digital connectivity and tools in rural India so that communities can work collectively to solve some of their pressing human development challenges (i.e. education, livelihoods, health, and environment). For the MSBC Initiative, I had the opportunity to travel in Northwest India to conduct consultation on how internet connectivity and digital tools are impacting communities outcomes in the areas of health, education, environment, agriculture, and human rights. -
