Nikolaos S. Papadopoulos (M) holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science from University of Crete and is a M.Sc. candidate in Computer Engineering at the Technological Educational Institute of Crete. Since August 2013 he is a research associate at the GeoSat Research Lab of IMS - FORTH. He has participated in several research projects: ClimaMED: Innovative technologies for climate change mitigation by Mediterranean agricultural sector - LIFE17 CCM/GR/000087 (2018-2023), BalkanROAD: Towards farms with zero carbon-, waste- and water-footprint. Roadmap for sustainable management strategies for Balkan agricultural sector - INTERREG Balkan-Mediterranean (2018-2020), STORM: Safeguarding Cultural Heritage through Technical and Organizational Resources Management - HORIZON 2020, AGROSTRAT (LIFE11 ENV/GR/951) - Sustainable strategies for the improvement of seriously degraded agricultural areas: the example of Pistachia vera L., KRIPIS -POLITEIA: Culture -Technology: New technologies in research, study, documentation and accessibility in the information of items and monuments of cultural heritage, KRIPIS – PEFYKA: Environment and Natural Disasters: New methods to evaluate and improve the environmental quality and encounter the natural disasters). The last years, he is focusing on Serious Games development and exploring innovative HCI techniques using the Microsoft Kinect sensor.His research interests are in the areas of web & mobile applications development, 3D capturing and reconstruction, augmented reality, computer vision algorithms and virtual environments.
