An attorney by trade, Nick translates an organization's vision into an actionable plan, ensuring alignment and execution firmwide. His 14-year career spans law firms, nonprofits, real estate firms, New York State and City government, political campaigns, boards of directors, and academia. Nick's deep cross-functional experience includes firmwide strategic initiatives; budgeting and finance; process improvements and change management; talent management and people operations; board support; external affairs and communications; and executive team operations. Nick has served as Chief of Staff + General Counsel for Hope Community, a $19M affordable housing developer and asset manager in East Harlem. His work includes building a new executive team and improving executive team operations; leading pre-development of a $115M, 250-unit residential building; driving firmwide operational improvements to increase efficiency and reduce cost; and managing our external affairs and social service division. Previously, Nick led and supported special projects at the New York City Economic Development Corporation—including New York City's finalist bid for the 2024 Democratic National Convention; an equitable loan fund to support MWBE and justice-involved cannabis entrapeneurs; and process overhauls to improve customer experience and efficiency.Nick has also led teams for the Biden 2020 campaign; as Chief of Staff + Counsel for New York State Senator Brian Kavanagh; and as Counsel to the New York City 2019 Charter Revision Commission. Nick began his career as a litigation attorney at Davis Polk & Wardwell—where he supported partners in multiple federal trials valuing assets and companies ranging from $200M to $7B. He also had a significant pro bono practice representing the Legal Aid Society and victims of domestic and political violence. Nick has served on multiple boards of directors, including Citizens Union, NYC's oldest good government group; and Chatham Green, his 420-unit coop w/ an $11M annual budget—where he led over $3M in capital projects; negotiated over $30M in commercial leases; and overhauled the coop’s management team and finances. Nick also co-founded the Park Row Alliance, an advocacy organization in Chinatown. In academia, he currently serves as an Ass't Adjunct Professor at Columbia University SIPA. An alum of Northwestern Law, Nick served on the Law Review and as Research Assistant to Constitutional Law Prof. Steven G. Calabresi. He lives in Manhattan with his wife, two children, and pooch.
