Working predominantly from the Dreadnought submarine offices at BAES SM, Barrow-in-Furness to support the design teams, the MoD DE&S Standards Manager is the project focal point responsible for the management of the Dreadnought Standards and Standardization process through all phases of the programme which includes: • Ensuring that the Dreadnought Standards Implementation Plan (DSIP) is developed implemented and maintained. The DSIP supports standardization management Functional Assurance (FA) activities. • Ensuring those selecting Standards are aware of the Standards selection advice and guidance available throughout the project, the DSIP and on DStan’s® website(s) including the MoD’s AOF and JSP 920 MoD order of preference and duty of care responsibilities.• The development and management of the Dreadnought Standards Applicability Matrix (SAM) held within the IBM Rational Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS). The SAM calls out a significant number of DEFSTANs, JSPs, and other standards. • Ensuring that SAM links are established between the Standards used and requirements within the URD/Ship Spec; using DOORS to manage and lead the improvement of the existing SAM and define and implement processes and practices. Liaison across the Dreadnought Project Team and additional MoD stakeholders to ensure that the contents are acceptable and consistent with the Project requirements.• Supporting to the development, maintenance and update of the URD/Ship Spec by feeding back changes Standards and Standardization requirements as a result of performance, time and cost trade-offs and any impact analysis work accepting deviations and waivers, particularly where interoperability could be affected.
