Led and grew all data science activities on the Direct Store Delivery team, which is responsible for delivering products to over 200k stores nationwide with a fleet of more than 10k trucks. - Developed a first-of-its-kind product recommender system that applies machine learning techniques to various data streams to identify store-level customized product suggestions. I was the sole technical contributor and built a simulation sandbox that estimated millions of dollars in incremental revenue opportunity.- Managed teams of contractors to build and deploy a highly complex demand forecasting system that recommends data-driven replenishment order quantities at KDP's stores. This system is helping to drive better account-level inventory management, save employees time, and improve various KPIs. - Managed a team of contractors to develop a store/product-level inventory estimator which is a key enhancement to the aforementioned order replenishment system.

Managed interns and contractor teams, while still serving as the primary technical contributor. - Built, validated, tested, and deployed the optimization engine (20k+ lines of code) within an in-house software tool that manages railcar distribution and assignment within the agricultural products business unit. This engine is expected to generate millions of dollars in annual savings.- Developed a decomposition algorithm within Java using CPLEX to assign railcars to trains more efficiently.- Created a reporting tool that alerts equipment managers to inefficient routing of trains and suggests remedial actions. This tool solves the shortest path problem iteratively, and is estimated to save six figures annually.

Using network optimization methods and software, our team worked to generate efficient loads and routes for LTL and truckload shipments. Value added:- Created an interactive pricing tool within Excel for quickly implementing upcharges or discounts at various geographic levels: region, state, and 3-digit zip code.- Devised a mathematical network optimization solution within Python for selecting optimal distribution center locations. I coded software to solve network design problems in which user actions (e.g. bridge reinforcement) affect the probabilities of future failure (e.g. earthquake damage). Project results can be readily applied to telecommunications, power, road, airline, and shipping networks.

Supervised by Dr. Pavlo Krokhmal (University of Iowa) and Dr. Eduardo Pasiliao (Air Force Research Laboratory). I formulated a model for networks that grow over time, subject to uncertain build times, whose solution presents an optimal design strategy for the network.
