Staff Engineering Manager, Quality Engineering (L6)
Current• Building, leading, and mentoring Snap’s Core Client & Platform Services Quality Engineering teams (Approx. 45 people), including frontline team managers, individual contributor QEs and TPMs, contractors, and vendors working on Snapchat's Camera, Growth (Friending, Sharing, User Profile), Messaging (Text, Voice, Video), Creative Tools (Music, Editor, Stickers, Polls, etc.), Search, Media Delivery, etc.• Continuously collaborating closely with Snap’s Dev, Product, and Program Management to deliver high-profile Snapchat features, including Snapchat AI, Snapchat+, Snapchat for Desktop, Director Mode, Username Change, and many more.• In 2023, led the Quality Engineering leadership team’s efforts to define the org's OKRs and meaningfully contributed to the overall strategic plan.• In 2023, led the Quality Engineering org’s initiative to modernize our iOS automation through the migration of 100% of eligible Obj-C E2E UI test automation to Swift.• In 2023, led the efforts to define the QE org's success metrics E.g. Defect removal efficiency, defect detection rate, automation coverage %, etc.• In 2023, began delivering weekly product quality metrics to my Dev/Product collaborators to champion and facilitate timely bug investigations/resolution resulting in consistently exceeding our SLAs.• In 2022, created Quality Engineering's interview plan, including writing the job description, setting up the panel for each level, defining the interview questions to be asked, and establishing debrief best practices.• In 2021, created the strategy and led the efforts to implement a new defect triaging process, including defining success metrics, off-boarding initial investigation to offshore vendors, and reprioritizing FTE QE team members to more-valuable technical work, including test automation and tooling.• Continuously working with Snap's Release, Tools, and Dev teams to iterate and improve upon the cadence of testing, including client and backend automation.
