WHY HIRE A GEOGRAPHER?Contemporary geography is much more than memorizing place-names on a paper map. At its core, geography is about context. To "Think Geographically" means to approach a problem from multiple dimensions simultaneously. In many ways, geography is more a "way of thinking" than a specific field of study. The Geographer's Toolkit includes: - Strong communication skills including written, oral and symbolic - Dynamic data visualization via charts, graphs and maps - Advanced mathematics especially geometry, matrices, topology and graph theory - Big Picture thinking and ability to synthesize diverse, conflicting views and motivations - Familiarity with computer-based information systems (GIS)Today's society is rapidly changing and organizations need agile workers and critical thinkers. Basic data science and statistics is easy enough (much of it already handled entirely by pre-programmed computer software) but turning that data into meaningful KNOWLEDGE and ACTIONABLE INSIGHTS requires higher-order thinking.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ABOUT MEI am a critical, humanistic geographer specializing in processes of non-violent social extremism and fringe movements with a particular interest in informal, digital-native organizations. I believe education above all else is foundational to solving today's problems.Currently, I am focused on the socio-technic systems underlying the recent boom in cryptocurrency speculation and the FinTech industry at large. Much of my interest stems from cryptos intersection/reflection of underlying issues in pedagogy, ontology, social polarization, and economic geography.
