About Noah Schumerth, Aicp
Since 2016, I have been working on land use and zoning projects to advocate for more sustainable development patterns in our cities. From my first project writing a transect form-based code concept for my current work writing a new sign code and design standards for the Village of Homewood, I have loved digging into the messy, difficult, and political bits of land use regulation to fight for a healthier, happier, and more vibrant American city. Through my specializations in zoning, GIS and land use planning, I am eager to connect with you to find solutions for one of the planning's most pressing challenges: integrating transportation and land use planning decisions to achieve meaningful gains in sustainable development and placemaking in the American city. I'd love to connect with you to partner in efforts to build better urban planning policy, whether here in Chicagoland or elsewhere across the country!I also love to get involved in other issues. When I am not fighting for more sustainable urban development in my role in local government, I am also involved in: - Using my background in GIS to understand local urban history and challenges facing the Chicago region- Advocating for public space development and creating cohesive active transportation networks- Rooting for Arizona State in any sport I can I'd love to connect and get to know you as we work together to build better plans and policies for American cities.
