Firstly, lets start at the beginning... A Chinese born Australian, I migrated to the US after high school and graduated from Harvey Mudd College in 1999 in Claremont, Cali with a double major in Engineering and Economics, and started a company called Auditude in my (late, unfortunately) Uncle Charles' garage. Being the son of medical practitioners, I accepted a job at Deloitte Consulting and they "foolishly" stationed me in Silicon Valley during the first dot-com-boom where everyone I spoke to had the entrepreneurial bug. With my Uncle's help, I was able to raise a million, and was off to the races. Of course, I had no idea what I was doing. All I knew was technology. I realize now that technology is the enabler rather than the be-all-and-end-all; that honor belongs to the customer. Anyway, I learned that lesson after I went to MBA school at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. My UCLA professor of entrepreneurship Bob Foster took my whole "business plan", and moved it to the appendix! I was able to meet some great people, as I was preparing for the UCLA Knapp Business Plan Competition, I got into and won...The Rice University Business Plan Competition! This was a formative event for me and (like having babies) was an incredible entrepreneurial experience. I got funding for my company and met many great entrepreneurs, mentors, and advisors. Six years later I sold my company to Adobe for 9 figures, and "retired" to Los Alamos, New Mexico where I now live.It was as I was driving though the desert shrub lands of NM, on the way to the Alamogordo Brackish Groundwater Research Facility I was wondering how I could solve this Climate Change thing for my kids (and all our kids!), and so I was delighted that the answer was right there in the desert.
