Code the Future is a global website for placing developers into primary and secondary schools to assist with teaching students about Coding and technical Computing.I have worked alongside two junior developers to mentor them in building the website and have played an active role in developing new features and maintaining the website.

SoupMail.com is a group email application that synchronizes the contents of email folders between employees within your organization, and also to partners, clients and customers outside of your organization. It includes an Outlook plugin for filing emails into relevant folders, and is highly searchable via the web or mobile. It uses Apache Solr and Amazon S3 for search and storage.I am the Ruby on Rails developer and Amazon AWS infrastructure specialist. Managing the synchronization of hundreds and thousands of email accounts is a huge logistical challenge and I have been working to improve the scalability, performance and Quality of Experience (QoE) for end users. TheCollectingBug.com is a website for collectors of all things - allowing you to display, share and manage your collection. It is a feature-rich photo database with the ability to add custom fields of 7 different types (text, numbers, dates, links, maps, etc). Your data can be either public or private, and everything is highly searchable through filters.I am the lead Java developer using Apache Wicket 5.x and 6.x, the Jackrabbit / CRX Java Content Repository (JCR) for data storage and Solr for search. I took the original front-end design and built the entire application, as well as instructed and managed a small team of front-end and back-end developers over the life of the project.The website was heavily optimized for load-time performance, and I spent a considerable amount of time diagnosing and resolving issues and improving on the front-end to meet the customer's unique requirements.I built unit tests and integration tests with JUnit, Mockito and Selenium, and used tools such as Sonar to manage and improve quality over time. Maven and Gradle were the primary build tools.

Kasify.com was a startup for Real Estate Property Managers and Strata (Body Corporate) Managers. It was a SaaS customer service tool with case management, task prioritisation and workflow management, with in-built automatic reminders. I built a Ruby on Rails 4.x application consisting of two components:• 'Online Concierge' Portal - for the submission of new customer issues• 'Case Management' Tool - for managing cases, tasks, workflows and communications with all stakeholdersThe team interviewed and worked closely with over 15 Property Managers and Strata Managers in the Melbourne region to follow the 'lean startup' methodology and validate the business.Notable features included:• Responsive HTML5 web design - using SASS, CoffeeScript• Multi-tenanted design - using 'acts_as_tenant' gem for securing and isolating individual customers• Angular.js for two-way data binding and asynchronous data loading• Automated testing with Cucumber, R-Spec, and Capybara• Full email infrastructure for managing communications between Property Managers and their peers, with responses to emails tracked and appended to cases automatically. Each company had its own email domain, utilizating wildcard DNS and email mail server rules.
