At London Health Sciences Centre, my role entails improving communications for the Facilities Management and Support Services department. When I started there, the department was trapped in a "silo" mentality, with sparse or non-existing communications with internal stakeholders. The wider hospital community often complained about last-minute notifications on infrastructure shutdowns, construction work, or IT system suspensions.Through effective email broadcasts, good news stories, annual reports, and website development, I've helped improve the departments' transparency, accountability and trust with the rest of the hospital community. Since I've taken these measures, complaints are significantly reduced, and other departments have consulted with me to help improve their communications.I've also assisted with reports and briefing notes to senior leadership to inform and build support for corporate strategies and priorities. Through my work, we've brought about change to improve financial responsibility, investment in infrastructure renewal, and increased collaboration.

At the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association, I was the "go-to creative person" in the office. I was adept at juggling multiple projects, using my diverse skill set to deliver communication materials to our 1,800+ membership audience.Significant accomplishments included:I oversaw the roll-out of educational material to 750 housing organizations as part of the government's Accessibility Standards for Customer Service legislation. I designed the graphics and packaging for binders and DVDs and ensured a consistent brand identity across all print and digital media. I also managed the printing and packaging process using a balance between staff assignments and outsourcing work. The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.I worked collaboratively with a web development consultant to overhaul the association's website. I took the opportunity to develop a better organizational system to easily browse the thousands of member resources available. I adapted the consultant's simple filter interface to reorganize over 15 separate pages of content into four subject areas with comprehensive tagging and consistent nomenclature. Members found the resources they were looking for much more easily and faster.I leveraged an opportunity at our annual conference to build our library of stock photography for marketing and communication materials. Through this initiative, I was able to create visually rich communications that better reflected the diversity and identity of our membership.

While at Queen's Quay Architects International, I often split my tasks between architectural work and communications and marketing. So while designing the company website and putting together Requests for Proposal documents, I assisted the architects with presentation materials such as digital renderings and 3D models of proposed projects.I was also the resident photographer in the office, taking stunning wide-angle photos of completed buildings to include in our portfolio, which also included enlarged and framed photos for the office decor.
