Nicholas P.R. Steinman is the Cyber Incident Commander at AXIS Capital located in New York, NY.Nick plays a crucial part in triaging and supporting cyber-related incidents, providing expert guidance to customers, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the claims and underwriting processes. As the Cyber Incident Commander, Nick will rapidly assess incidents, provide effective remediation options, and liaise with relevant internal and external parties, while gathering and synthesizing incident data for use by Claims, Underwriting, Advisory and Actuarial teams.Prior to joining AXIS, Nick worked at PNG Cyber as the Vice President of Client Engagement where he worked closely with cyber insurance stakeholders to ensure they are receiving the actionable intelligence and recommendations from PNG they need to manage and reduce cyber risk within their client portfolios. Additionally, Nick negotiated with cyber threat actors on the dark web and project managed high profile DFIR investigations to keep victims of cyber-attacks up to date on techniques and contemporary methodologies for best possible incident resolution and reduced privacy (and regulatory) litigation risk. Nick also held various DFIR leadership positions; most notable as the Director of Insurance Alliances at Arctic Wolf after joining as their Associate Director of Incident Response. Prior to graduating from SUNY Albany’s College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security, and Cybersecurity, Nick was serving his local community as a small business owner in the New York City area for ten years.
