Paula Shaw is a National Teaching Fellow and Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, with over two decades of experience at the University of Derby. Throughout her tenure, she held various roles in lecturing and senior management, culminating in her position as Associate Professor of Online Teaching and Learning within the Provost teaching and learning department. In this capacity, Paula demonstrated exceptional leadership in designing and implementing online learning initiatives, whilst also driving digital research.Her contributions extended beyond the university setting. Paula sits on the Academic board for UCEM, served as Chair of the Pearson HE Innovate Community of Practice for two years, and led a QAA Collaborative Enhancement Project aimed at developing a Flexible Learning Toolkit for the higher education sector. Her academic pursuits focus on widening participation and fostering flexibility within higher education programmes.Since transitioning from full-time employment, Paula has become an associate consultant at Advance HE. In this role, she offers comprehensive training, support and insights into pedagogical practices, encompassing learning, teaching, and assessment strategies in online, and in-person events in UK and International locations.
