Operating as a mid-level software engineer, I primary worked on site performance, ads, and tracking. This role facilitated frequent collaboration with other teams, both internally and externally, and the investigation of third-party integration. It also created a paradox where site performance must be improved while simultaneously adding services that necessarily impact performance negatively. Striving for that equilibrium, though, provided an opportunity to continuously explore new tools for mitigation, ranging from profilers to Service Workers.

Increasing my focus on back-end engineering, I created an enterprise-level API that services multiple CBSi sites as well as the internal CMS. Representing my greatest challenge to that point, it served as my first foray into Symfony2, MongoDB (noSQL), and API development in general. Handling over 10M requests per day while maintaining fault tolerance, it also demonstrated my ability to achieve success while learning a new development stack on the fly.

With an excellent attention to detail and a high level of accountability, I worked as part of a cross-functional team to estimate development schedules and implement dynamic new site functionality to specification using the latest web standards, including HTML5 and CSS3. In addition to my primary duties, I trained associate web developers in the usage of internal tools as well as best development practices in terms of functionality, efficiency, and maintainability.

As an associate web developer, I implemented bug fixes and assisted team members with large-scale development projects while enhancing my development skills and knowledge of best practices. This progression culminated in playing key roles in two major launches - a complete site redesign and the creation of CNET Marketplace.
