About Nuno Castro
Having a degree in Electronics and Computer Science from Instituto Superior Técnico, I’ve been in programming since almost the beginning of my professional life. Starting with algorithms for Computer Vision in C/C++, some years after entered a project for a complete web-based product for Healthcare with a Java backend and Flash/Flex frontend. The project evolved to a new frontend, based on GWT, and the need of complex algorithms to be used on both the backend and frontend sides. In the mean time, support to the company existing applications had to be given, leading to program in different languages like PHP, Visual Basic and .NET, and therefore using different tools and IDE’s. Some years after, changed to another project, also written in Java/GWT, in the security area. I had the chance to optimize several points in the application, from the visual components to its general performance both in algorithms and database queries. All the accumulated experience through the years in the various projects led me to be strong in algorithms, being a problem solver from the complex bug to the performance issue, no matter what programming language is before me.
