Innovation and continuous improvement leader with 15-plus years of experience at the intersection of Engineering, Innovation and Product.Since the beginning of my career, I have had the luck to work in environments where the love for technology was immense, but client needs were paramount. Along the way, I learned how to bring an idea born from a conversation to a fully-fledged product in the customers' hands, leveraging bleeding-edge technologies to push imagination boundaries. After starting my Software Engineering career in a demanding division of a multicontinental telecom operator, Portugal Telecom ( now Altice ), which allowed me to explore technology in a diverse and rich IT environment, I switched gears to Multivision, where I transformed a project into a product in less than a year while achieving GSMA recognition for the innovation that we brought to the industry. Metric, now Simplified, allowed me to break into the technical product management track to grow into leadership while having fun translating research into seamless client solutions.Along the way, I ventured into the startup world, balancing a full-time role at Altice with a position in an industry seemingly far from tech. At Shot Out, I wore multiple hats—contributing to product design, handling door-to-door sales with a flawless conversion record, and managing event planning and execution for various engagements.I transitioned from Multivision to Crossjoin to lead internal Product and Innovation initiatives. After a short stint taking care of the existing MVPs, I was invited to join the Delivery division, where our clients' technical and organisational challenges required a set of tenured technologists and managers. My professional objectives are, first and foremost, to help my users and clients excel in their operations. I am deeply committed to delivering solutions that meet their needs and enhance their operations, using the best of what technology offers to ensure their success, bringing seamless science fiction into reality.

OrganizerAws User Group Lisbon Jan 2017 - Jun 2022Lisbon Area, PortugalI’m a big fan of cloud technologies, especially the AWS panoply, where I gained work experience moonlighting at Altice and while leading the development of Metric (now [Symplified](https://simplifyd.network/)). Bruno Quintas (AWS) and Manuel Pata (Previous Outsystems, now AWS) founded the group, and I secured a speaker spot at the first AWS UG Meetup. After being responsible for one of our events, both founders asked me if I was interested in taking the organiser torch, and I accepted on the spot.Highlights- Built the most active AWS User Group in Europe.- Hosted Jeff Barr.- Independently organised a University side track with multiple events. -
Engineering And Technical Product ManagerMultivision - Consulting Dec 2013 - Mar 2022Lisbon Area, PortugalSince December 2013, I led the development of Metric, rebranded Simplifyd.Since day one, we believed we would be the reference for Mobile Network Planning and Optimisation (NPO) tools and processes. A big part of my job is to make this happen and, sprint by sprint, push for massive strides towards that key objective. My mission had two primary goals: to be a production-ready SaaS tool and to be featured in an industry reference event. The first step was to become recognised by the Telco industry as a product with the potential to be what we wanted, and we've made it.In 2014, some months after I took the product's technical lead, we received an honourable mention in the GSMA Global Mobile Awards. This industry recognition fuelled our drive to capture our first client that year, and we have continued to push since then. With a small team of developers but grand ambition, we have attracted customers on multiple continents and continued to impress in each demo.Although we were not a sexy business, we significantly impacted the quality of life of the everyday Mobile consumer. Our tool provides a simple environment for mobile telecommunications engineers to fine-tune mobile networks, from which we get our family calls, daily Facebook posts, Instagram Photos, Twitter updates, etc. As a team, we are not just building a tool. We were providing better service to every mobile user.Role set:With a small team of 10 to 15 members in multiple roles, we needed to be broad-spectrum in our day-to-day tasks, and I've happily embraced the challenge. My primary duties were within three vertices: Engineering, R&D, and Product.Highlights- Took an internal PoC to a production-ready SaaS in less than a year- Accelerated drive test processing in an order of magnitude compared with the industry average- Took the Product reins three years in-project- Led a two-year European-funded research project with 14 international publications- Published at IEEE -
Software EngineerAltice Portugal Oct 2008 - Dec 2013Lisboa E Região, PortugalI Integrated the core R&D team right after finishing my college degree and final project. My work continued my internship path, developing near real-time monitoring agents for Windows systems and covering a significant platform gap. I architected and developed components for a fourth- and fifth-generation multi-purpose monitoring platform. I co-owned an internally developed Domain Specific Language (DSL) to manage infrastructure as code; developed OSGI services to run Complex Event Processing (CEP) Esper engines that processed incoming monitoring events; the middleware to support message flow between the front-end API services and the monitoring platform components; several sets of rules and heuristics for CEP engines and integration components such as ETL processes and message queue integration adapters. On top of our technology stack, I've designed and implemented monitoring projects for critical company business activities, applications, and systems. Each project required investigative work with the application development teams and owners, a proactive search for helpful information in the involved company systems and applications, and implementing a monitoring plan that included a valuable set of metrics, KPIs, and alarms. My first contact with Agile methodologies happened soon after taking the Scrum Master training from Scrum Alliance. Later, I undertook the rotating Scrum Master position, which allowed me to get practical experience with the methodology. I also had a brief stint as a Product Owner for a small Ruby On Rails application that was part of our team portfolio.Highlights:- Integrated the core R&D team after finishing my internship.- Developed a wide array of monitoring agents deployed in almost all Windows server machines, supporting core business processes and extending our monitoring platform to new infrastructure environments.- Owned an end-to-end project for HR fraud analysis and detection using complex event processing. -
Product LeadShot Out May 2012 - Jun 2013Mafra, PortugalShoutOut was a small company that produced pre-packed alcoholic drinks. We offered a short range of mixed beverages in a shot format that facilitated most of the bar work in high-demand environments such as nightlife districts, music events, University parties, etc. To avoid the standard questions "Do you do X? Or do you have Y?" and to prevent time-consuming mixing at the bar, we've supplied explicit and suggestive banners to allow a quick sale of any of our existing drinks.I joined the founder from the moment I was introduced to the idea and committed to a broad range of tasks, including product development, marketing, advertisement, door-to-door sales, inventory tracking, and a client directory. I've also helped prototype the logo, shot and shot seals, and labels, among other tech-related tasks.Highlights- Never failed a sale attempt.- I was seminal in making the idea transform into an actual product.- Introduced our product to college parties, bars, clubs, and bespoke events.
