Used bioinformatics technology to research early detection of diseases by analyzing and comparing mRNA gene expression levels of bone marrow cells with the Wang Lab. Programmed in Perl to analyze data from an RNA-seq study conducted at UCSD, and compared the gene expression levels of eighteen different bone marrow cells from a mouse. Used software such as Gsnap, Cufflinks, Samtools, and Cuffdiffs, as well as visualization tools such as the Integrative Genomics Viewer. Found 982 differentially expressed genes in the 18 cells, and analyzed some of these genes to determine the heterogeneity between cells to identify certain genes that lead to various diseases and in the future, to learn how to prevent disease-causing genes from being expressed.

Integrated Innovaspire‘s mobile apps with Facebook using Java. Used the Facebook API and the Android SDK to implement the login and logout features, and implemented the finding friends feature on the game. Conducted the initial research, to figure out how to allow users logged in with their emails to play interchangeably with Facebook users, and how to save relevant information to the Innovaspire database.
