Position: Supervisor (O&M).After joining KPP conducted erection, commissioning and testing of CATERPILLAR (DFO/HFO operated) engine, model: 16 M 32 C, capacity: 18X6.2MW, 110KV Switchyard, Thermal oil boilers, Thermal oil auxiliary boilers, Fuel and Lube oil unloading stations, Tank farm, HFO separators, Lube oil separators, Air compressors, Fresh water hydro for unit and Oily water separator unit. Responsibilities included –• Ensuring control and power cables terminations are according to manufacturer’s drawings, loop to loop checking on terminated cables in preparation for functional test on engine instruments• Performing calibrations on engine instruments to assure proper functions, assuring that all engine major system auxiliary drives undergo electrical tests as per manufacturer requirements• Conducting medium voltage breaker mechanical and electrical tests • Carrying out ratio test for 11KV main generators, current transformer and voltage transformers• Ensuring and double checking programs of CMG, CMX and MPU before starting the engines. • Conducting engine safety switches functional tests while engines are running in 750 rpm.• Performing engine and generator protection tests on relay GE SR489, Test run of engines for 20% and 100% load. Performed pick pressure test on 16 cylinders while in 100% load, providing data and completing documents for electrical commissioning as required by Caterpillar.After successful commissioning, I got the responsibility as an operation supervisor. Responsibilities were to communicate with DABS, Start-up, Shut-down, Loading, Unloading the engines, Safety Lock out Tag out, Issuing Permit to work, Maintenance/Troubleshooting on Electrical/Instrument & Control (SCADA, PLC) systems. Involved with writing actual operation procedure, continuously train DABS employees (local people) to maintain the correct order for operation and maintenance of the power plant.

Erreection, Commissioning, Operation & Maintenance of Kabul 105 MW (HFO) engine base power plant.

Conduct erection, commissioning and testing of CATERPILLAR (DFO/HFO operated) engines, model: 16M32C, capacity: 18X6.2MW, 110KV Switchyard system. Handled Thermal oil boilers, Thermal oil auxiliary boilers, Fuel and Lube oil unloading stations, Tank farm, HFO separators, Lube oil separators, Air compressors, Fresh water hydro for units and Oily water separator units. Performed cable termination, loop to loop check of power/control cables and to ensure that all the connection is according to manufacturer’s drawings. Performed different kinds of instrument calibration such as WIKA level transmitter, VAREC level transmitter engine fuel rack position sensor to assure proper function. To assure that all engine major system auxiliary drives undergo electrical tests as per manufacturer requirements, conducted various tests such as - HV/LV breaker test, CT and PT saturation and ratio test, different kinds of engine instrument test, such as- pressure sensor, temperature sensor, thermocouple, analog/digital converter, governor, PLC, temperature controller and some other electromechanical instruments.

Conducted erection, commissioning and testing of CATERPILLAR (MAK) gas engines model: G16CM34, capacity- 2X5.8 MW & WAUKESHA engine, model VHP5904GSID, capacity- 4X0.9 MW, HT/LT switchgear, generator control panel (GCP), Local data board (LDB), 33KV/6.6 KV indoor switch gear/sub-station, 6.6/0.4KV LV bus bar, ACB etc.Detailed responsibilities included - • H.V. testing, protection and alarm circuit test, circuit breaker opening & closing test energizing of transformer and HT, LT switch gear, Interlocking and protection test of power transformer, MCC and MV switchgear• To ensure that the CAN control PLC & other’s additional instrument systems are tested, bench calibrated, punch items and issued final acceptance as per project requirements. Flashing of CCM, ECM (Master, Slave & Auxiliary) software when malfunction• Day to day maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of the electrical control systems, such as- HV, LV switchgear, Sub- station equipment plus their control systems• Periodical and annual maintenance work of different switchgear, power transformer, distribution transformer CTs, PTs, breaker (outdoor/indoor), surge arrester, insulator, power/control cable, HV/LV bus-bar, earthlings network 110 & 24 volt DC battery charging system, DC distribution system, protection relays and UPS system etc. • Report to the power plant manager any abnormalities that may disrupt power plant operation.• Supervise control room and engine room operator to monitor parameters, synchronizing and start-up preparations

Conducted erection, commissioning and testing of CATERPILLAR gas engines, model: G3616, Capacity: 3X3.67 MW, another engine model G3516, Capacity: 1.0 MW, 33KV/11KV switchyard, 11KV indoor switchgear, Air compressors, 24V DC battery charger, 11/0.4KV LV bus bar, ACB etc.Conducted HV protection and alarm circuit test, circuit breaker opening & closing test, energizing of transformers and HT/ LT switch gears, Interlocking and protection test of power transformer, MCC and MV switchgears.Prepared engines and it’s auxiliaries for operation, day to day maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of different instrument and control systems (numerical protection, microprocessor based I/O analog/digital), event recording, Pressure/temperature monitoring and metering instruments, governors, PLCs, various types of electro-mechanical control systems, plant auxiliaries, HV/LV switchgears and sub-station equipment plus their control and protection systems of power plant and sub-station.
