‘Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we touch’. I believe that early childhood educators leave a big impact on the lives of the children we teach. Hence, we are responsible in creating a nurturing and supportive environment for children to learn and grow in.I am Nur Fazrena, a Year 3 student from the Diploma of Early Childhood Development & Education at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I have learned various ways to support and nurture children during my course of study. For example, modules such as ‘Curriculum Planning & Implementation’ equipped me with skills to implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate learning experiences for children. I have recently completed a 6-month internship as an English Teacher at MOE Kindergarten. My skills in classroom management were enhanced by planning and implementing ten lessons across six developmental domains. I collaborated with colleagues to plan and implement activities for children to engage in during centre events such as Racial Harmony and National Day celebrations. Besides planning for events, I was delegated to create learning resources to support children’s physical and socio-emotional development, as well as differentiated resources for children with special education needs.I am currently working at Nerf Action Xperience, an attraction packed with multiple-themed zones. The guests that visit Nerf Action Xperience come from various backgrounds, requiring me to be flexible when I carry out briefings. Through this job experience, I have earned skills such as communication and customer service excellence. I believe that these experiences will support me in providing young children with learning experiences that build on their academic and holistic development.
