Nuria Tesón is an independent journalist and writer who works as consultant, political advisor, and policy analyst from Cairo where she lives since 2009. Tesón also lived in Turkey between 2014-2017. She is specialized in covering conflicts focussing on how those affect policies, human and particularly women and children’s rights, water access, climate change and food security. Tesón holds a Journalism degree from the Complutense University, a master degree from the Autónoma University and EL PAÍS. She is an Aspen Young European Leader Fellow and Thompson Reuters Foundation Alumni and develops her journalistic career in press, television, and radio. She worked as a staff member at EL PAÍS where she participated in investigations such as the Gürtel case that deserved an Ortega y Gasset Award in 2010. In 2009 she decided to become independent and ever since she has reported for France 24, Al Jazeera, EL PAÍS, VOA, DW, RFI, Cuatro, CNN+ or Cadena Ser, among others.Tesón is the co-founder of the collective MásTesón with the photographer Miguel Ángel Sánchez. They were selected by TEDTalks and RTVE to illustrate their program Buenas ideas TED about Art to change the world. Their work has been featured in TIME, The New York Times, Le Monde..Tesón is guest professor of the Media Technologies and Social Movements course at the University of California, San Diego, and contributes as lecturer for different institutions such as Transparency International.
