Sharon Nurse is an educator with vast experience, including nine years as a teacher and staff developer, working in a public school district. Sharon spent seven years as a school leader, including one year as a transformational school principal, handling all functions related to school leadership, including curriculum development, training, facilities management, and activities. Sharon also has four years as a consultant, teaching guided reading and business education. I have an undergraduate degree in Marketing from Howard University, and a graduate degree in Communication, Computing, and Technology in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.My educational philosophy is deeply rooted to my work with Teach for America. I strongly believe all students have the right to receive an excellent education, despite their economic background. Our schools should be able to provide resources for our children, highly qualified teachers, and equal access to information. All classrooms should be safe learning environments that cater to the emotional, physical, and social well-being of our students. By high school, all students should be prepared for college, life, and beyond, with the achievement gap drawn to a close. Students should be taught how to think and survive in the real world.
