Seungyeob Baik is a seasoned Korean patent attorney and the founder of NwiseIP (Near & Wise IP Law Office), where he has been practicing since 2013. With a strong focus on global intellectual property (IP) issues, Seungyeob enjoys collaborating with overseas In-house IP coulsels and international patent attorneys to support his clients’ diverse needs.Before establishing NwiseIP, Seungyeob spent three years as a Technology Evaluator at Shinhan Bank, Korea’s largest bank. In this role, he played a key part in assessing the technology of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the tech sector and integrating these evaluations into their credit ratings. This unique experience allowed him to become a convergence expert, bridging the worlds of IP and finance. Leveraging this background, Seungyeob has specialized in patent valuation and portfolio design, helping startups attract investment and achieve business success.Seungyeob's academic journey began with a major in Nuclear Engineering at Hanyang University, where he delved into diverse fields such as mechanics, electronics, chemistry, and materials. His passion for physics, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics was ignited through this education, particularly in areas where engineering intersects with medicine. Although his friends often remarked that his demeanor was more akin to a liberal arts student—given his love for discussion and active listening—his technical expertise has always been his strong suit.As a patent attorney, Seungyeob has handled a wide range of cases, including those related to machinery, automobiles, power plants, and medical devices. After founding NwiseIP, he expanded his expertise to cover various fields by integrating IT and AI technologies into patent work, and he has achieved notable successes in overcoming trademark and design rejections. In recent years, he has made significant contributions to securing intellectual property rights for Korean IT startups.Seungyeob is also deeply engaged in the professional community. He served as a Delegate for the Korean Patent Attorneys Association from June 2022 to May 2024. He currently serves as a Delegate of LES Korea YMC with the LESI YMC - Young Members Congress (since March 2024) and a Delegate of AIPPI Korea Membership Committee (since July 2023).
