Implementation of ERP systems in the Caribbean presents a unique set of challenges that clients and consultants frequently underestimate. Lack of IT infrastructure, internal talent, change management, strategic planning, proper communication, and general misunderstanding of current business processes are the main stumbling blocks. Managing clients with few to all of these challenges requires charismatic, agile, and self-organizing individuals gathered into planning-oriented teams. We stand of the shoulders of giants and as such must always document, learn, and share knowledge from our mistakes. I have made many mistakes implementing finance, purchasing, sales, warehousing, inventory, retail, and pharmacy modules. From these mistakes, I continue to grow in my ability to identify future issues, and effectively advise and brainstorm with clients to pivot, as well as react and resolve unforeseeable issues.
