My PhD project was a relatively large multicenter study initiated by the St. Antonius Hospital, in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic (USA), Cincinnati Medical Center (USA), Erasmus Medical Center (The Netherlands), Royal Brompton Hospital (UK) and University Hospital Leuven (Belgium). We have developed a standard set of outcome measures that can be used.

  • The trial studied the acceptability of enzyme addition in fortified blended foods among 12-36 months old children and their caregivers/mothers (n=240), in Burkina Faso. During the internship I was responsible for:
  • Monitoring, documenting and reporting the study for a period of 2.5 months on behalf of the WFP, being based in Burkina Faso.
  • Supervise and assist during the 30-day trials' implementation in the field on porridge preparation and distribution as well as data recording.
  • Write-up of the study results in a final report as well as a paper suitable for publication with Maternal and Child Nutrition (Kampstra et al., 2017) DOI: 10.1111/mcn.12459.
