I am an educational and instructional technologist who specializes in Instructional Design. I have worked in higher education for more than 10 years. In the role of Coordinator of Instructional Technology, I manage classroom technology and digital tools that support online or hybrid instruction. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I helped train and prepare faculty to teach in a digital environment, supporting their use of Canvas, Zoom, and other instructional technology tools. While this was a heavy lift, it was rewarding to be a part of our transition to emergency remote instruction.At Castleton University, I collaborate with teams to meet faculty and institutional needs and manage installation projects. Additionally, I provide admin support for many of our instructional technologies, including our LMS, Canvas, Zoom, and our video server, YuJa. Finally, I develop tools and resources to support our faculty, which has included developing an onboarding course for online instruction and creating several how-to videos on YouTube. Previously working in higher education, I was an elementary school librarian, where I also supported K-6 teachers using technologies such as SmartBoards. I am a lifelong learner who is curious about technology. Like a good puzzle, I enjoy figuring out how things work together. I enjoy understanding how different technology components work together and can expertly troubleshoot AV equipment. However, my favorite duty is working with teams to improve teaching and learning within our organization. In developing training or professional development opportunities, we draw from one another’s strengths to expand reach and opportunities. I have a MA in Education: Curriculum and Instruction and a BA in Mass Communication, both from Castleton University. Currently, I am a doctoral candidate in the Instructional Design Leadership program at Franklin University. My interests lie in the interplay of cognitive science and organizational change to promote organizational change. I am interested in helping organizations adopt best practices for online instruction to improve student success. I enjoy connecting with other professionals on LinkedIn to learn more about learning science in corporate and educational settings.
