Research and development of biometric digital security systems: - Fast prototyping of biometric systems (Matlab) - Development of software (C++) - Designing/Training Deep Neural Networks (DNN) and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) - Image Processing

The main objectives of this laboratory are:- Understand the process of developing software for embedded systems, using an integrated development environment (IDE)- Be aware of the range of debugging tools available within the IAR systems IDE- Develop a basic understanding of interrupts and I/O and their implementation- Design a digital clock and stopwatch using a NEC V850 microcontrollerThe lab lasted 9 hrs each week and the role included:- Introducing students to IAR embedded workbench - testing the NEC K_Line – Play it!–2 demonstration boards- debugging C/C++ code- assisting with errors / suggesting advise- marking codes and scripts

Assisting students in Matlab with tasks such as:- Signal waveform design- Fourier analysis - Designing and testing the frequency response of a 1st and 2nd order system The lab lasted 9hrs each week and the role involved: - introducing students to Matlab, the command window, m-files, etc...- debugging code - suggesting improvements / optimisation- ensuring the sessions run smoothly.
