Bahadır Şadan received his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Yıldız Technical University in 2002, his master's degree in Earthquake Engineering from Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute in 2005, and his Ph.D. in Structural Earthquake Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in Italy in 2009. Between 2002 and 2013, he worked for various engineering companies in Turkey and abroad. In 2013, he established OBS Engineering Consulting Ltd. He has been lecturing as an Assistant Professor at MEF University in Istanbul since 2019.His main areas of research are the design of seismically isolated buildings, the use of earthquake engineering technologies, the design of earthquake-resistant structures, seismic assessment, and the retrofit of existing buildings and historical structures. He is right now the President of the Turkish Association for Seismic Isolation (TASI/DİD), Secretary General of Anti Seismic Systems International Society (ASSISi) and executive board members of the Turkish Earthquake Foundation Earthquake Engineering Committee, and the Seismic Retrofitting Association of Turkey (DEGÜDER). He has given several seminars and courses to accurately implement seismic isolation systems and raise public awareness of seismic isolation systems in Turkey. He has played an active role in the preparation of the "Special Rules for Design of Seismic Isolated Buildings" section in the new Turkish Seismic Code for Buildings published in 2018.
