Having studied marketing at university, and after an initial couple of years selling drinking water machines in London, I moved back to Hull and into the professional sector, where I was Managing Director of Stamps Solicitors/Hudson Law between 2000 and 2017. In 2003 I set up an estate agency department within Stamps, before going on to establishing Hudson Property as an independent estate agency in Hessle in 2006. I then carried out my two roles simultaneously.Having trained in surveying for a couple of years under the tutelage of Graham Gibbs from Graham Gibbs Associates in Hessle and having qualified as an Associate Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in 2017, Graham invited me to start work as a Consultant Surveyor in 2020. Alongside my estate agency work, I carried out freelance surveys exclusively for Graham Gibbs between 2020 and 2024, including Home Buyer surveys (level 2), building surveys (level 3), structural & damp surveys, structural reports, and tree surveys. In January 2024, I set up Oliver Hudson Surveying Ltd, and have been working as a full-time residential property surveyor ever since. When I’m not surveying, I like to keep busy! Family comes first, and I’m very lucky to be both a husband and father. As our children have got older, I’ve gradually found more time to explore interests of my own, and love the variety these bring to my life. I have been practising karate since 2008 and have progressed to the rank of 1st Dan (Shodan). I train 2 to 3 times per week in Hull, Beverley and Barton, and usually compete in a couples of tournaments each year. If there were more days in the week, I would become an instructor, but you can’t do everything!I like nothing more than the great outdoors and being at the mercy of the elements, so I take myself off to Cayton Bay as often as I can to surf a few waves. I’m rubbish at it, but what I love about surfing is that you can have hours of fun no matter your level of skill, and also that you can surf all year round.I used to love singing but damaged my voice box playing rugby, so I get my musical fix these days by playing the harmonica. It’s a really difficult instrument to learn but I’ve been taking lessons online from an old pro in Los Angeles and am starting to get some cool blues numbers under my belt!
