Along with a team of four other managers, I was responsible for organizing the staff, overseeing day to day operations, and instituting the directives of the ownership group. We created and planned several creative events throughout the year that would potentially draw in customers. My specific managerial duties included scheduling a staff of thirty plus employees to cover all daily shifts. I organized and posted the schedule through WhenToWork software. I was also in charge of marketing for the bar. This was a grassroots style of marketing that focused on personal contact at the bar, invitations through e-mail contacts, or contact through social media, utilizing sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. My duties for daily shifts included briefing the staff prior to the shift, monitoring sale and the staff/customer interaction during the shift, receiving any customer requests or queries, and accounting for all monetary transactions at the end of the night. In addition, I tended bar several nights a week. This aspect of the job required supreme organizational skills in a fast-pace and highly stressful environment. Social skills were a must as constant interaction with customers is required as a bartender and as a manager.

Tyler, Texas Area

Directing a newscast requires both a lengthy preparation of the layout of the show and then the execution of that layout live on-air. I would plan a rundown for the order and placement of all camera shots and videos for the evening or morning news broadcasts. I then organized a team of seven other crew members and related the responsibilities during the show. I would also build all of the graphics that would be used for the newscast. Once the news started, I used a television switchboard to punch each shot going on air. At the same time, I was also relaying instructions to my production team. Organization and proper planning were imperative to produce a quality live show. Deadlines were extremely tight and the likelihood of change to the rundown meant the ability to be flexible and creative under pressure was necessary.

Dayton, Ohio Area

I wrote, filmed, and edited material for several entertainment shows. I directed a weekly news program. In addition, I was responsible for assisting other students with individual projects, including, directing at least two additional shows per week, as well as any extra assistance with editing.

As an intern, I created the daily master control logs, edited audio productions, and served as the floor director for the bi-weekly newscasts.
