PROJECT TYPE:WAREHOUSE CONVERSION WITH ROOF EXTENSION, A SEPARATE SIDE ANNEX AND COURTYARD LOCATION: LADBROKE GROVE, LONDONSIZE: 485 SQM GIA FLOOR AREA + 60 SQM GIA ROOF EXTENSIONCONSTRUCTION VALUE: £1,800,000SERVICES PROVIDED: ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN, INTERIOR DESIGN AND LIGHTING DESIGNDESIGN FEATURES: AN EXISTING OPEN PLAN WAREHOUSE WITH EXPOSED STEELS, BRICK WALLS AND LARGE CRITTAL WINDOWS WAS THE ESSENCE OF THE PROJECT. THE AIM WAS TO RETAIN AS MANY OF THESE FEATURES AS POSSIBLE BUT TO REDESIGN THE LAYOUT FOR FAMILY LIFE AND TO MEET CURRENT BUILDING STANDARDS. THE DEVELOPMENT CREATED 5 SPACIOUS BEDROOMS EACH WITH EN-SUITE BATHROOMS, 2 LARGE LIVING SPACES ON GROUND AND FIRST FLOOR, AND A SELF-CONTAINED SIDE ANNEX. THE EXISTING ENCLOSED CONCRETE STAIRCASE WAS DEMOLISHED FOR A NEW TRIPLE HEIGHT STAIRCASE CONNECTING THE MAIN LIVING SPACES TO THE NEW ROOF EXTENSION. THE STAIRCASE PAYS HOMAGE TO THE CHARACTER OF THE INDUSTRIAL BUILDING, DESIGNED IN MILD STEEL WITH EXPOSED BOLTS BUT IDENTIFIES ITSELF AS A MODERN ADDITION BY SITTING OFF THE EXISTING BRICK WALL. THIS ALLOWS LIGHT TO CAST OVER THE IMPERFECTIONS OF THE BRICKWORK AND HIGHLIGHT THE LARGE STEEL FIXNG PLATES. THE TIMBER KITCHEN UNITS WITH ROLLING BARN STYLE DOORS AND POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL KITCHEN ISLAND DOMINATE THE GROUND FLOOR ENTRANCE SPACE, DESIGNED IN COLLABORATION WITH WOON THEATRE FROM BELGIUM. EACH BATHROOM HAS BESPOKE CONCRETE SINKS AND VOLA SANITARY FIXINGS. THE INDUSTRIAL AESTHETIC OF THE STEEL AND BRICKWORK IS SOFTENED BY THE RECLAIMED TIMBER FLOORING THROUGHOUT, TEXTURED LIMEWASH WALLS APPLIED BY A SPECIALIST ATELIER FROM BELGIUM AND SOFT LINEN FURNISHINGS.

Diploma, Unit 2. Gaining high passes (the equivalent to distinction).Awarded a High Pass prize for my Technical Studies thesis.

I worked in a small team on the 165,000 sqm Platinum Park's mixed-use development in KLCC. The project comprises three 53-storey towers, which rise from a terraced retail podium. Inspired by stalactite formations, the tower forms were generated by parametric models to maximize views from each apartment. The unique top-heavy massing and dramatic cantilevers presented structural challenges which demanded a network of sheer walls that transfer the loads down the slender ‘legs’ of the towers.My responsibility was on spacial planning, massing and cladding design of Tower 2 which was a 52 storey tower.(with associate supervision) I would co-ordinate between the team and consultants.

The studio designs high end residential projects and shop fit outs. I was involved in a 6 storey town house conversion in Chelsea to extend the basement for a swimming pool and loft extension.

Chaucer fields, Kent University. My responsibility was to design 22 Townhouses to cater for 264 students. In 3 months of working there I was involve in the process from Concept design through to the start of Detail Design.
