Mr. Rojas is a Venezuelan bilingual actuary (Native level in both English and Spanish) with more than 30 years of credited experience. His line of work has been within multidisciplinary and multicultural environments. Amongst the roles he had, we have the following: as an Independent Consultant for USAID, as an Actuarial and Benefits Consultant for Towers Perrin and MERCER, and as a consultant and actuary for Venezuelan insurance companies. Currently, he works as a freelance consultant, sharing his time with actuarial research on non-regular actuarial problems. Until February 28, 2022, he worked on a contract basis as a Tech advisor for the Caribbean Actuarial Association. He is currently an Associate Member of the Caribbean Actuarial Association (2020), a Committee member of IAA’s International Association of Consulting Actuaries (2018-2022), a Board Member of Actuaires Du Monde (in English: Actuaries of the World) (2021-2024), member of IAAHS’s COVID 19 Project Team and CAA’s representant in IAA’s Pension Accounting Committee (2021). He is also a registered researcher at the Society of Actuaries. Recently, he was awarded an IACA Certificate of Merit for his work branching into new fields brought about by the pandemic in his work titled “Building Consulting Resilience in Challenging Times by Effective Networking”. This paper was presented at the IAA Joint Section Colloquium 2021. His areas of strength are, amongst others: Life Insurance, Pensions, Health insurance, Big Data, Stochastic modeling, HR Operational Risk management techniques, Actuarial auditing techniques, Social Security, Actuarial and Benefits Consulting, Actuarial Climate Insurance Index, ISO 31000 (2018), and Risk mitigation processes.
