- Utilize in-depth knowledge of EU data protection law, and expertise working with US entities on their privacy compliance, to provide over 40 US-based and multinational corporations with pragmatic, actionable advice on their road to compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). - Translate GDPR principles into action items for CTO’s and engineers on changes necessary for compliance at the technology and product level. - Assist legal counsel in assessing key risks for GDPR, and creating prioritized risk-mitigation action plans. - Assist companies with EU-US Privacy Shield Certification, draft cross border transfer agreements, GDPR compliant data processing agreements, personal information management policies, privacy notices, data protection impact assessments, and other policies and procedures- Advise clients on legal risks, obligations and other issues relating to privacy and data security governing the collection, maintenance, usage, and disclosure of data including implementation of laws, regulations, and industry standards. - Analyze clients’ existing and developing products and services and provide advice on the design and implementation to ensure compliance with applicable privacy and data security laws, regulations and industry best practices. Follow technological, legal and regulatory developments in the clients’ field, evaluate their potential impact and advise clients on business requirements resulting from such proposals- Advise clients on all privacy and data security matters implicated by acquisition transactions and engagement of third party service providers including oversight of the due diligence process, negotiating data protection reps and warranties, and involvement in post-closing remediation. - Represent clients in technology and cloud transactions by drafting and negotiating licensing, service, and SaaS agreements

Teach a course for upper level law students on the law of cybersecurity and privacy in the age of connectivity. Among the issues discussed are: regulation of financial information, regulation of health information, information security in critical infrastructure, data breach response, business continuity plans, managing third party vendors, enforcement by the FTC, privacy and security issues in the internet of things and big data, and international enforcement of privacy and data security. Previously, I taught a survey course for upper level law students on the legal implications of doing business in an online context. Among the issues discussed are privacy and data security, e-commence,.intellectual property rights and anonymity and speech in cyberspace.
