The UNIFY Program was an ambitious body of work to manage the migration of Virgin Australia from its existing Amadeus and Navitaire passenger systems to the Sabre Customer Service System (SabreSonic CSS). The IS Infrastructure Project Stream was a complex technical project with wide scope, incorporating a range of network, end-user and application/supporting infrastructure.As Lead Engineer, I provided technical leadership to ensure high quality implementation of all infrastructure components,and provided technical direction to external partners and other project streams.Key Responsibilities:* Technical analysis during the vendor selection and strategic planning processes;* Network: - Detailed network impact and performance analysis, including WAN emulation; - Implementation of a global MPLS network service, delivering multiple redundant circuits into geographically diverse locations; - Design for network security policy, in order to provide secure connectivity in a whitelist-only environment (Check Point enterprise firewall); - Analysis for core switching and routing policies, to enable connectivity to approx. 100 sites, including third-party networks.* Supporting systems: - Highly available SFTP platform (data representing +AUD$50 million in revenue); - Highly available bulk data messaging platform, utilising WebSphere MQ. - Data Warehouse environment, deploying PostgreSQL and EMC GreenPlum products - BI/DW Development/ETL environment, utilizing Informatica PowerCentre and DataQuality.* End-user: - Deployment of Sabre application suite within Virgin Australia and to external business partners, including SITA/ARINC locations; - Implementation of a Windows Server 2008 application environment to provide a centralised management for approx. 500 printer devices; - Deployment of desktop infrastructure to Virgin Australia sites.* Technical design and supporting documentation for all components;* Handover of all components into operational support.

As Infrastructure Engineer, my responsibilities included technical project leadership as well as analysis and consultation for a range of key projects, including deployment of Linux- and Solaris-based business applications and middleware, and the migration of existing software-as-a-service platforms to new environments.Key Responsibilities and Achievements:- Conducted a comprehensive risk assessment of the IT Infrastructure platform and facility offerings of both the Sabre and Amadeus reservations and departure control systems, as part of Virgin Australia’s vendor selection process for replacement of the Navitaire NewSkies platform.- Provided IT Infrastructure project leadership for the migration of the externally hosted Navitaire NewSkies 3.3 and 3.4 platforms. As Infrastructure Project Lead, I was responsible for co-ordinating deployment of the NewSkies application client suite to approximately 80 sites across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, including Virgin Australia operated sites as well as CUTE/MUSE multi-user environments. Additionally, I was responsible for the implementation of a range of interfacing systems, including providing network connectivity to the new environment, rationalisation of the network security policy, deployment of a new API middleware farm and the automation of critical business-to-business file transfers.- Provided expertise from an Infrastructure perspective to develop an end-to-end system disaster recovery and business continuity plan for the Navitaire NewSkies 3.3 and 3.4 platforms.- Provided expertise and assistance to IS Operations staff in execution of the previously untested Navitaire NewSkies disaster recovery process and system fail-over tasks following the critical failure of the Navitaire NewSkies platform, including recovery of interfacing internal and external systems, as well as management of planning and execution from an Infrastructure perspective for the subsequent system fail-back.
