Acquired in August 2013.Making ASICs, SoCs or CMPs today can cost in excess of $50 Million, and those costs are expected to rise to $140 Million in 3-5 years. In order to contain and reduce these costs, Chip Genesis seeks to better capture the designer’s knowledge and tradeoffs in the design itself – so the artifact produced is the process of making a chip – a chip generator – rather than a single chip. With Chip Genesis, we can now generate entire families of chips, serving up multiple applications and power/performance objectives using a single chip generator.
