This was a funny one. I was hired to manage the content on LIFE.com - stories that were published in the current edition of LIFE Magazine. My second day on the job, they announced they were shutting LIFE Magazine down. Suddenly my job changed from content management to developing and implementing an interim strategy while Time Inc. (the parent company) sorts out what they want to do with LIFE.com.

The Randolph Mountain Club maintains four camps (two cabins and two shelters) on the northern slope of Mount Adams in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The caretaker is charged with managing all four of these camps by visiting each of them daily, collecting fees from campers, providing regular maintenance, responding to emergencies (search and rescue) on the mountain and aiding in the wellbeing of travelers in the mountains. I lived at Gray Knob Cabin, approximately 3 miles and 3,000 vertical feet from Route 2 near Randolph, NH. Trips back down to the valley to re-supply would occur about every ten days. It was an amazing experience I hope to enjoy again. www.randolphmountainclub.org

Atlas brought me into the Marketing department to develop a new on-line strategy, evaluate existing usage/web traffic, implement a design to exude the culture of the company, discover new ways to reach customers and retailers and to heighten interactivity and feedback for R&D.While with Atlas I also helped with R&D by participating in many trips out to the snow to test current models as well as prototype models. One such trip included a 6-day, 45-mile Trans-Sierra Trek on which I took photos being used in Atlas marketing materials. Atlas was purchased by K2 Sports in 2003 and is part of the K2 Snowshoes family including Tubbs, Powder Ridge, and Little Bear Snowshoes.

The International School of Language (ISL) offers a broad range of classes and tutoring for students of all ages. ISL is located in the town of Komono, Japan (near Nagoya). My classes ranged from one-on-one tutoring for subjects like American Idioms, pronunciation and conversational English to small classes of school children and large classroom environments for adult learning.
