A passionate social studies educator who dedicated a 32-year career to creating inclusive creative spaces for democratic dialogue & civic engagement. Served as department chair for 7 years and held leadership positions on multiple hiring committees, and multiple curriculum adoption/implementation committees, the most recent being a 2 year project to design, create curriculum for, and teach our district's first Ethnic Studies course. Outside the classroom I advised our high school's Human Rights Awareness club for 25 years and have remained active in the the Seattle Foreign Affairs Council and the Seattle Holocaust Center for Humanity. I also was granted an honorable discharge as a SSgt from the Washington Air National Guard where I served from 1992 to 2000 as a training & education counseling specialist.
