Oğulcan Satılmış ÖZSOY is a senior student at Ondokuz Mayıs University, majoring in Molecular Biology and Genetics. He possesses a broad range of experience in genetic research and biotechnology applications.At the beginning of his education, Oğulcan volunteered at the Biotechnology Laboratory of the Karadeniz Advanced Technology Research and Application Center (KİTAM) at Ondokuz Mayıs University. During this time, he developed skills in fundamental molecular biology techniques, including DNA isolation, RNA isolation, PCR, qRT-PCR, and Sanger Sequencing. These early experiences reinforced his passion for genetic research.Later, he worked as a TÜBİTAK 2247-C Intern Researcher at the KAVAS LAB of the Agricultural Biotechnology Department at OMU Faculty of Agriculture. In this role, Oğulcan gained deep knowledge and skills in advanced biotechnology applications such as molecular cloning technologies (e.g., Crispr/Cas9), vector design, plant genetics, and gene modification.In November 2023, he and a team of students from Molecular Biology and Genetics, Medicine, and Industrial Engineering, known as CHAINGENE, developed a genetic-based treatment concept for ALS. This project earned them a spot as a finalist in Teknofest.From May to August 2024, Oğulcan participated in a multidisciplinary project led by Dr. Michael Deniz YILMAZ from the Archaeology Department at Ondokuz Mayıs University. This project involved a surface survey of Akalan Castle and its surroundings, during which he generated ideas for future genetic research projects.Oğulcan continues to apply his knowledge and experience in genetics and biotechnology across various projects and stays updated with the latest advancements in the field.
