Tuna Ogut is an urbanist, a geographer, and an architect. He is a Doctoral Researcher in Human Geography and Urban Studies at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), holding an LSE PhD Studentship. Tuna is a board member at Poedat, an interdisciplinary social sciences society organising academic workshops, conferences, and roundtable events in fields including applied ethics, political studies, gender, democracy, and analytical philosophy. Previously, Tuna has worked as a full-time research assistant at Istanbul Bilgi University and has 5 years of experience in teaching urban studies courses and architectural design project studios. In these courses, undergraduate students learned to conduct extensive urban analysis, developed public building projects in complex urban settings, explored the urban forces that operate architecture, and critically evaluated the social, political, and economic dimensions of urban development. Before joining LSE, Tuna completed an ethnography with three years of immersive fieldwork in Istanbul. Drawing from feminist and trans geographical perspectives, the research explores how a predominantly trans and non-binary community of drag performers creates an urban place for expression and gender exploration (currently in peer review). In addition to presenting at international conferences and workshops, Tuna delivers guest lectures and speeches at universities, socially engaged venues, art institutions, and grassroots organisations.
