About Omari Hand, P.E.

I am the Regional Roadway Manager at KCA and also a Project Manager with extensive experience in highway and transportation projects, particularly focusing on FDOT Design-Build. Since 2007, I have designed and managed major projects, steadily progressing from design to management throughout my career. I have also been involved in complex Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) for several high-profile projects. Along the way, I have provided guidance and direction on design and construction, including permitting, engineering analysis, and post-design support. My experience includes continuous coordination with clients/owners, sub-consultants, and contractors from the onset of projects through their completion.BACKGROUND:As a college student-athlete, I gained valuable lessons in hard work, responsibility, perseverance, teamwork, schedule management, and leadership (Football Team Captain, 2002). During my brief time in the NFL, I developed the ability to navigate successfully in a professional, "stress-filled" business environment. After my sports endeavors ended, I shifted my focus toward finishing my degree and pursuing a professional engineering career. Transitioning from a former athlete to an engineer was no easy feat and required great adaptability. I was fortunate to secure an entry-level position, which allowed me to leverage my unique skill set from prior experiences to stand out among my peers. This initial exposure to the engineering industry, combined with my attributes, catapulted my career and enabled me to work on some of the largest projects ever let in FDOT District 7. Applying the same tenacity I used in sports, I continuously push myself to take on challenges and succeed.MOST NOTABLE PROJECTS:Gateway Expressway Design-BuildContract: E7J46FM No.: 433880-1-52-01; 424501-2-52-01Location: Pinellas County, FLClient: FDOT District 7/Archer Western/de Moya Joint VentureContract Amount: $598 millionProject Duration: 2017 to 2024 (Est.)
