Whizpace (pronounced as waɪzpeɪs) is a pioneer in white-space communication especially TV White Space (TVWS), a.k.a. Super Wi-Fi. We have our TVWS solutions including equipment and management systems to address different segments such as rural Internet, cable replacement, private network, fast deployment and various IoT applications such as smart grid, street lighting, Industrie 4.0 and precision agriculture. The team has rich experience in TVWS network designs and deployments and played instrumental role in the successful deployments and trials of many TVWS applications in the Asia Pacific region.

Whizpace (Suzhou) Co Ltd is a subsidiary of Whizpace Pte Ltd in Suzhou, China. The Chairman of the company is awarded as Tech Pioneer in Suzhou Industrial Park 苏州园区科技领军人才。We focus on the adoption of TV White Space (TVWS) as Industry 4.0 connectivity to enable enterprises and government with their Industry 4.0 initiatives. We also intend to adopt Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enable better utilization of valuable frequency spectrum and improve performance of wireless networks.

I have handed over the Head of Smart Grid Programme (now Smart Energy and Environment Dept) to my successor and currently assuming the role as the Advisor for the Dept.

Heading the White Space Communications Department. The department focuses on developing the next-generation communication systems based on white-spaces technologies. It covers system designs which includes different communication layers from application to network, MAC, PHY, RF and antenna designs. Besides R&D management, I also cover the role of business development where I managed to pull the relevant parties together to create impacts beyond a single project.The key focus is on TV White Space (TVWS) technology. TVWS refers to a new way of communication where the spectrum is obtained dynamically through intelligent sensing of available spectrum. There are significant number of spectrum made available either due to interleaved spectrum in analogue TV broadcasting or vacant spectrum freed up as a result of migration to more efficient digital TV broadcasting.The TVWS equipment designed by us supports various network topology such as point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and mesh and has been successfully deployed in many places in Singapore and the region including Gardens by the Bay, NUS, housing, surveillance, rural networks in Bohol Island Philippines, etc. The users of our TVWS solutions achieve savings or increase in productivity significantly.The TVWS geo-location database designed by us is the FIRST one to get certification from IDA. The database has been licensed to an A*STAR spin-off Network Genetics and Network Genetics becomes the first company to obtain SBO license from IDA to offer this database as a service in Singapore.We are a team of professionals (scientists and engineers) who has experience in conceptualizing new ideas in communications and networking and develop them into solutions commercially viable.

I assisted my Executive Director to run the strategy for the institute. As SPO, we're in charge of government engagement and IDA was my key account. I also sit in senior management meeting to discuss institute-level issues. Besides that, I was also involved in various corporate activities such as workplan, board meeting, management accounting, appraisals, IP strategy, industry development strategy, reorganization, etc.

The I2R-Singapore Power joint laboratory is a collaboration between Singapore Power and I2R focusing on smart grid technologies. The joint laboratory will develop capabilities and solutions to enhance the reliability of Singapore's grid networks. The joint lab has been successfully completed in May 2016.

In charge of Smart Grid activities in I2R ranging from connectivity to security, sensor and analytics.Roadmapping for smart grid, overseeing smart-grid projects, industry development, project collaborations, line management, liaison with various stakeholders, etc.We welcome collaborations with the industry and other research institutions.
