Asian Scientist Magazine is an award-winning science and technology magazine that highlights R&D news stories from Asia to a global audience. The magazine is published by Singapore-headquartered Wildtype Media Group, Asia’s leading STEM and healthcare media company. Wildtype Media Group also publishes books and Supercomputing Asia, a print magazine focusing on the high-performance computing sector.As the Art Director of the magazine, my role is vital in collaborating with the Editor-in-chief to ensure captivating science stories are beautifully presented. I am responsible for leading a talented team of 4 designers who skillfully transform complex scientific concepts into visually stunning representations. By using captivating visuals, we make abstract science concepts more tangible and engaging for our readers. I led the successful effort to elevate the artistic direction of the magazine, ensuring top-notch design quality and guiding my team to achieve numerous prestigious design awards. Our magazine has achieved great recognition from esteemed awards such as the IDA International Awards, WAN-INFRA awards, and the Society of Publication Designers award. These prestigious accolades showcase our commitment to excellence in design and content creation.

Wildtype Media Group is Asia’s leading STEM and healthcare media company, spanning digital, social media, video, print, custom publishing and events. Our brands include Asian Scientist Magazine and Supercomputing Asia, award-winning titles available in print and online.As the first full-time designer at Wildtype Media, I played a vital role in designing the company's rebrand from Asian Scientist Publishing. I was also responsible for pitching client projects, ensuring design quality, and building a team of talented designers. Below are some of the key achievements:- Designed, and developed brand strategy as well as being the brand custodian of the company through ensuring consistency across all aspects of branding, crafting a brand message, and establishing a memorable presence in the science communication community- Spearheaded multiple design pitches, winning them, and led the execution of the project from end-to-end, including client management and final print production management- Successfully tripled the efficiency of the design team by hiring and training 3-5 designers, nurturing them to step up to guide younger designers in the teamClients: A*STAR, NTU, NUS, National Supercomputing Centre (NSCC) Singapore, Sartorius, MiRXES, Skin Research Institute Singapore
