I hold a Bachelor Honours Degree in Computer Science with a focus on Systems and Networking, and I am currently employed as a Telecommunications Engineer at EMR Integrated Solutions.Over the past 8 years, my tenure at EMR has provided me with exposure to a diverse array of technologies within the telemetry industry. While my formal education centered on computer systems and networking, my initial role at EMR involved working extensively with SCADA and PLC automation for a period of four years. During this time, I took part in creating SCADA systems for various water utilities around the country and Irish Water and also was able to utilized my networking expertise to design and implement expansive IP radio networks, some comprising over 100 sites which was responsible for delivering critical national infrastructure data back to SCADA. In 2019, I transitioned to EMR's telecoms department, where I have since been involved in both large-scale and small-scale networking projects. Notably, my move coincided with EMR securing a significant project, which entailed upgrading the communications infrastructure of over 500 sites for a major water utility in the UK, Severn Trent Water. I took on the lead engineer role for this project, which involved designing, installing, and commissioning cellular routers to replace the outdated leased line communications. The successful execution of this project underscored the synergy between my skills, blending a profound understanding of SCADA and instrument technology with the expertise in establishing secure connections between sites through the use of private cellular APN networks, Firewall and VPN technologies.Currently, I am serving as the lead engineer on a major project for Irish Rail, wherein EMR is supporting the upgrade of Irish Rails national transmission network with the use of MPLS-TP technology. This endeavor further leverages my proficiency and experience in telecommunications engineering.I take immense pride in my journey at EMR and the invaluable opportunities it has provided me to contribute to critical projects in the telecommunications domain, particularly within the realm of water utilities, energy and transportation networks.
