Investigated fundamentals of Alkali-Silica Reaction. Used XRD, SEM, Lithium NMR as well Si29 MAS NMR.Helped undergraduate students with H NMR and AFM experiments.

My M.Sc. thesis work includes "Chemical Vapor Deposition of Boron Nitride Nanotubes". The characterization of the deposited nanotubes on catalyst covered silica substrates and stainless steel surfaces were done by employing SEM, EDX, XPS, XRD and Raman Spectroscopy. BNNTs as compared to their cousin CNTs, have constant band gap at 5.5 eV which is independent of tube size and chirality. Due to their high oxidation temperatures, dielectric property together with single layered BN, BNNTs will replace SiO2 in future due to latter's down-scale limits and not being a good substrate for graphene.During the two years period at Bilkent, I worked as teaching assistant for the Physical Chemistry, Material Science and General Chemistry courses.
