In this role Dr. Okanlami will oversee three key resources: Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD), the UM Adaptive Sports & Fitness Program, and the existing Testing and Accomodation Centers (TAC).The goal is to move beyond simply providing educational accommodations to students with disabilities toward a more holistic approach of supporting our students that simultaneously increases the focus on accessibility and inclusion.

Served as a Resident Physican in Orthopaedic Surgery until July 4, 2013 when I experienced a spinal cord injury, paralyzing me from the chest down and causing me to cut my training short in order to have surgery and begin rehabilitation. In June of 2016, the year I would have graduated, I was awarded an honorary diploma by the Chairman of the Department.

As a graduate student at the University Of Notre Dame's Engineering Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Excellence Masters, I partnered with the Cleveland Clinic and Custom Orthopaedic Solutions to work on a patient specific medical device intended to make pedicle screw placement in spinal surgeries faster and more accurate. I performed customer validation, product design, product development, cadaveric studies, analysis of the competitive landscape and investigation into intellectual property en route to defending my masters thesis and bringing the technology closer to commercialization.
