I am an educator, practitioner, and researcher. My career rests on these three pillars. Research: My core values of equity, diversity, and inclusion in education drive my scholarship in international education, education in emergency and conflict-affected contexts, higher education, and education technology. I am passionate about advocating change based on strong evidence to better serve children, youth, and young adults who are disadvantaged by social, economic, and political conditions through my research. I draw from multiple disciplines in my research and seek to provide evidence for practice and decision making. I bridge between quantitative and qualitative methods to operationalize research in education access, quality, and inclusion. I have published in academic journals, open source websites, and have shared the results of my work with academics, practitioners, and policymakers. Management: I have managed several interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research and grassroots projects and teams with faculty members, graduate and undergraduate students, government and non-governmental organizations, and civil society partners at New York University, University of Pittsburgh, and Teachers College, Columbia University in the USA and other countries, including Mongolia and Afghanistan. I wrote successful grants of innovative projects to improve access to education and raise awareness and led their implementations. I have managed multidisciplinary research teams of faculty members, consultants, sub-contractors, and served as a liaison between researchers, funding agencies, and other partners. Service: I aim to provide service to my profession and the professional organizations and communities that I am a member of. I volunteer to serve on paper and presentation selection committees and organize conferences, meetings, and forums to promote dialogues and empower individuals.
